August 15th
through the 19th
What can I say but
WOW! We started by picking up our raffle winner in Illinois
at his home and heading North to Ontario. The ride is
always eventful with Tim in the car for 20 plus hours … just
watch the DVD you will see.
We arrived in Canada on
the 14th and met up with Dave and Jake Malloy of
Erie Tracker Outfitters. Dave warned us that camp was
remote, a vast understatement. After hours of traveling on
abandoned logging trails we arrived. It was worth it. We
had an entire island to ourselves with 3 cabins, a cook and
some awesome fishing!
The next day was
opening day and Nathan; our raffle winner, put the BOWTECH
to good use. The next night Tim had his opportunity and
Tony, well you need to watch to see what he did. Let’s just
say Tony is a different kind of hunter.
All in all a VERY
successful trip with 4 bears taken and two for the books! I
just want to say a special thank to Dave and Jake Malloy and
everybody at Erie Tracker Outfitters. Also a special thanks
to Chris Cobb of Little Lost Lake Resort for putting us up
in his cabins for a week. Our trip has already been booked
for next year and I guarantee some more awesome footage!

April 22nd
Oregon!
We had a blast in
Oregon with Jarid and Matt from Bowtech! When we got there
the first thing we did is take a tour of the factory. Wow!
This place is cool! They have some of the best
state-of-the-art equiptment available. Here is a little
known fact: Bowtech has the largest bow manufacturing
facility in the country! They build most of the parts right
there at headquarters. Even the strings are made there.
Their strings are hand made to the smallest tolerances in
the industry. Watching the string-builders was probably one
of our favorite parts of the tour. Those people are
incredibly fast! Bowtech also does all of their dipping
in-house. That was really cool to see how they do it. They
dip more than just bows in Oregon. They do knife handles,
gunstocks and grips, quivers and much more.
The next
day....
We headed out to hunt
turkeys. We met our guide Matt early in the morning and we
were off to the woods. Hunting turkeys in Oregon is a whole
lot different than hunting at home here in Iowa for one
reason, the terrain. We hauled up and down mountains trying
to locate the birds. They called them foothills but we call
them mountains! It felt more like an elk hunt than a turkey
hunt! After little success in the "foothills", we got in the
truck and checked some fields in the lower areas. Bingo! We
found some birds. These were Rios we were hunting and it was
about to be on! The next couple of days found us hunting
these fields with our bows and having a blast! Tim had a
couple of really close encounters with the same tom two days
in a row. I called in a pair of strutters on the second day
and got oh so close but after 20 minutes or so they wandered
off with a new found love that snuck in stole them away from
us.
On the last day we
went four wheeling. That was a ton of fun. I never knew Tim
was so good on an atv! After riding trails for awhile we
found a nice big mud hole. It was all down hill from there!
Everyone started throwing mud and soon Tony got stuck in a
bog. Jarid went to help him out and Tony shoved a hanfull of
mud down his shirt. The wrestling match that followed was
hilarious! Jarid won that one! Tony is now 0-1 in his
mudwrestling career. Haha!
Check out all the
action on our dvd The Real Deal next spring!
